Thank You For Your Continuing Service, Mary Brenner!
Mary was born May 15, 1924. She joined Huntington Community First Aid Squad in December 1977, and went through the necessary membership steps such as Observer on the Ambulance, to Aide and then First Aider. She became an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and was promoted to Crewleader, responsible for patient care and crew safety while treating and transporting patients to the hospital. Being retired, she was pivotal in providing day time coverage providing non-emergency transportation from hospital to home for our residents.
During her 47 years as a member, Mary has served on various committees including: First Aid Supply, Funeral Protocols, Parade Protocols, Uniform Committee, Ambulance Orientation, Craft Fair Committee, Public Relations, Alternate Site Committee, Dispatcher Trainer, and Day Captain. She currently serves as Chair of the Fund Drive Committee.
Mary maintained her EMT certification, renewing every 3 years, and continued to Crewlead on emergency calls until she turned 70 years old. She then became the permanent Dispatcher on Monday from 3 to 7 PM and continues in that capacity today.
